What Should Always Be Included
Custom or properly adapted design, not a raw, unmodified template with your logo dropped on top.
Mobile-responsive development, tested on real devices, not assumed to work because the design software says it will.
Basic on-page SEO structure — clean URLs, proper heading hierarchy, meta titles and descriptions for each page. This is foundational, not an upsell.
A functioning contact system — forms that actually deliver to your inbox, tested before launch, not discovered broken after a customer tries to reach you.
Cross-browser testing, so the site works properly regardless of what browser a visitor happens to be using.
A reasonable number of revision rounds, clearly defined upfront so there's no ambiguity about what happens if changes are needed.
What's Sometimes Included, Sometimes Separate — Always Ask
Hosting setup and the first year of hosting. Some packages include this; others expect you to arrange it separately.
Content writing. Some providers write your website copy as part of the package; others expect you to supply all text.
Stock photography or original photography. Worth clarifying which you're getting, since the difference matters for how the finished site actually looks.
Ongoing maintenance after launch. Rarely included indefinitely — usually a separate plan, and worth understanding the cost of before you need it urgently.
What Should Never Be Missing
A clear handover. You should know how to log in, make basic updates, and understand who to contact if something breaks.
Ownership clarity. Confirm that you own your domain, hosting account, and website files — not the agency, in a way that makes leaving them later difficult.
