There's no single correct answer for every business, but there's a solid foundation that applies to nearly all of them, plus additions that depend on what you actually do. Here's how to think about it.
The Essential Pages
Home. Should immediately answer what your business does and who it's for, without making a visitor dig for that information.
About. Builds trust — your story, your team, why you're credible. A generic paragraph here undersells what could be a genuine differentiator.
Services or Products. Specific and benefit-focused. What does a customer actually gain from choosing you? Vague descriptions cost you conversions.
Contact. Easy to find from anywhere on the site, with multiple ways to reach you — phone, form, address if relevant.
Individual service or product detail pages, if you offer more than a couple of distinct things. Bundling everything onto one page makes it harder for search engines and visitors alike to understand what you actually offer.
Pages Worth Adding, Depending on Your Business
Testimonials or case studies, if you have genuine results to show — this often does more for conversion than any other single page.
FAQ, if customers frequently ask the same questions before deciding, since answering them upfront removes friction.
Blog or resources, if you're building authority in your industry or want to capture search traffic beyond direct commercial keywords.
Portfolio or gallery, if visual proof of your work matters — design, construction, events, and similar fields benefit heavily here.
Pricing, if your pricing is straightforward enough to publish and doing so would build trust rather than lose a negotiation opportunity.
What to Avoid
Pages that exist because they seemed like a good idea rather than because a real visitor needs them. Every additional page should have a clear purpose — informing a decision, building trust, or making contact easier. If a page doesn't do one of those things, it's probably not worth building.
